CBD - Knowing what to look for

With lots of different products to choose from, it can sometimes be confusing when trying to find the right product for you - especially when we’re talking drops, mg, ml, CBD, THC, cannabinoids, edibles vaping etc.

Good products will be backed by scientific research, unfortunately, there are many products out there that are not. So we thought we’d give you some tips and information on what to look for when you are purchasing CBD products - to ensure you’re getting the very best!

CBD mg per dose

- An average dose per person would be around half a millilitre (ml) or half a pipette.

- If you have a 10ml bottle, it would last 20 doses.

- If the bottle has 500mg of CBD, each dose would contain 25mg.

The average CBD isolate dose for the average person (taken on a consistent basis) should be around 25mg per day.

For the average person new to CBD, a 15mg dose per day would be a good place to start. Then after a few days, you can try adding 5 or 10mg per day to the mix and see how you feel - everyone is different, but we have seen positive effects from this method. If you would like more guidance on personal dosage take a look here: How to Find The Right CBD Dose

You can usually tell the quality of a product by the extraction process it went through. We always make sure that our products are extracted by Co2 extraction which is one of the safest and most superior methods, we then ensure triple batch testing is performed by at least 2 different accredited laboratories. It’s always good to check that the product has been tested!

Knowing your Isolate, Broad Spectrum & Full Spectrum

- Isolate presents a cleaner feel to CBD products and would be recommended for everyday use to achieve general wellness and reduction in stress and anxiety.

- Broad spectrum and Full spectrum products tend to have the other cannabinoids included that help the CBD interact with the receptors in the body.

- Full spectrum also has THC, allowing it to work faster, which may be seen as good for those looking for quick relief in the short term.

It all, however, comes down to personal needs and preference - everyone is different.

One final thing to consider is the added terpenes. Terpenes are natural extracts of the cannabis plant that help boost different effects of the plant or extract itself. The most popular ones and their effects are:

- Lemonene (anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and aids digestion)

- Myrcene (anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and aids digestion)

- Pinene (Pain relief, Aids breathing, antioxidant, anti-bacterial)

- Linalool (Pain relief, sedative, antipsychotic, promotes sleep)

- Carene (stimulates productivity in bone cells, helps bone growth)

- Nerol (Antidepressant, aphrodisiac, antibacterial)

- Geraniol (Neuroprotectant, antiviral, mosquito repellent)

- Caryophyllene (Gastroprotective, anti-inflammatory)

Carrying agents

There are many different carrying agents for CBD (i.e. what it's combined with)

- Extra virgin olive oil, Rich in Vitamins A, D and E, have a lower absorption rate

- Cannabis sativa or Hemp seed oil, strong earthy aroma and taste, has an average rate of absorption and strong taste

- We found that MCT (coconut extract) has the best absorption rate and has a fairly neutral taste
