What Form Of CBD Should I Take?

When it comes to how you enjoy your CBD, there are a few factors that are worth taking into consideration. Some of this will come down to how you prefer to consume products, as well as the effect that you’re hoping to achieve.

CBD is often taken to help with pain, stress, or anxiety - however some people experience feelings of focus and sharper attention span. You will also find that the dosage you take will affect what form of CBD is right for you.

At Molecule Health we want you to enjoy a personalised, beneficial journey with CBD. Stop into the shop and ask at our Lab if you’re looking for a particular affect. Remember that you can email us at any time and we’ll be delighted to find the right product for you.

How Long Will CBD Take To Work?

The time it takes before CBD starts working is different for everybody. In the same way that caffeine affects bodies differently, you’ll find that the way CBD works for you may be different from how it works for your friends and family.

Two major factors in how long CBD will take to work are the way in which you take it, and the potency of the dosage. Here we’re going to cover the different ways in which you can consume CBD, and for more information on finding the right dose, please see our article on dosing.

So which is better for you - gummies or vaping? The truth is, you will find that the strength of your dose will affect how strongly you feel the CBD, and the length of time. Yet the consumption method is the first way to truly control how quickly you will feel the benefits.

Sublingual

Perhaps the next most common way of enjoying CBD is through applying CBD drops underneath your tongue. This method is slower than vaping, and the benefits can typically be felt in about 20 to 30 minutes. However, while the uptake is a little slower, you may find that the benefits last longer - approximately between 4 to 6 hours.

This method is enjoyed by some as it is an easy way to enjoy and carefully regulate the amount of CBD that you are consuming. However, people who are sensitive to strong tastes or smells may find it unpleasant to make this part of a daily routine. The taste will depend on what type of CBD is being used (full spectrum or isolate). Full spectrum CBD products tend to have a stronger taste, but we also offer CBD isolate products, as well as unflavoured options!

Digestive System

A much more pleasant tasting way to enjoy CBD is through eating or drinking edibles, CBD capsules, or CBD water. This involves a slow uptake into the body, taking up to an hour before you feel the affects - although those who take CBD on an empty stomach and have a healthy metabolism have reported feeling the effects after around half an hour. The benefits of taking CBD this way is that the dosage will last for much longer - usually four hours at the minimum.

However, people may find that this is too long to work out if CBD has been effective, and may find it difficult to work out if it is having any impact at all.

Topical Application

Using topical CBD is a great way to ensure that your system feels the benefit of CBD where the issue is - for example if you have had a long workout, or are looking to relax your muscles. This is also how CBD skincare works. As the skin is the largest organ of the body, it contains the largest amount of cannabinoid receptors, so is a great method of CBD delivery. By applying the CBD directly, you cut out CBD entering your bloodstream, and it can work immediately as an antioxidant or anti-inflammatory. There are a number of options for topical application, all of which can offer different benefits:

Creams and Balms are typically used either for beauty and skincare purposes or for wide-spread pain relief. CBD's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities means it can help fight ageing as well as offer fast relief for tense muscles.

Rollers offer even more localised relief, so tend to be used for specific pains, such as headaches or menstrual cramps.

However, topical CBD works more with physical ailments, and is unlikely to offer any kind of anti-stress or anti-anxiety benefits.

Tips For Using CBD

  • There’s no universal dose of CBD - what works for you is going to depend on your physical makeup and what it is that you’re hoping to achieve with CBD.
  • There’s a wide range of ways to integrate CBD into a balanced and healthy life. Experiment with doses and formats, and if in doubt, get in touch with us.
  • The best way is to find your standard dose is to start low in dose and proceed slowly.
  • As it is a natural product, CBD isn’t a magic spell. Instead, you may notice more benefit with daily use of CBD at consistent, regular times.

It can sometimes be difficult finding out which method is best for you. If you're still not sure where to start, try one of our CBD Kits for an easy introduction. Simply choose what effect you're going for, and enjoy a range of helpful, handpicked products that will suit your needs.
